Fair Feathered Fun!

A very exciting recent project between myself and the lovely Charlette and Hector from We heart pictures. We teamed up to create a story for a ‘Fun fair and feathers’ themed shoot.

I was so excited about this collaboration, it was a great opportunity to be creative with a fun brief and  to work alongside professionals who really are an inspiration to me.

We had a dedicated and passionate  team who came together to make the shoot happen.  I would like to thank the lovely hair stylists Sam and Joelen, the gorgeous Shoni from Bats & Stardust who designed the fabulous head-dresses especially for the shoot, Eclectic Clothes Boutique for lending us the gorgeous clothing and the models Holly and Shamalie for their striking work.

And a special thank you to Charlette and Hector, who are true masters of their work. I  look forward to working together in the near future.

Please take a moment to visit both sites below for more of an insight in to their work.

While the celebrities were getting ready for the Oscars and all it’s glitz and glamour, I was getting ready to be part of an Oscars programe for my local radio.
Needless to say I have never done anything like this before and most probably never will again, however it was undoutably to much of a great opportunity to miss.

The topic: The Oscars, Host: Sara, my role, to create a red carpet look and chat about trends and most importantly do’s and dont’s.

I think to date it’s the most nervous I have been as it might show a little in the interview but overall I really enjoyed the experience and who know’s, this might be the start of my celebrity status….

So here is the interview that made me famous…………for about 10 minutes anyway……….

A/W 2012 Beauty guide

By night…

It’s all about 90’s goth glamour, Pat McGrath who created the look for “the girl with the dragon tattoo” coinsidently or not carried the inspiration forth to her fall show’s.
“Paled out” flawless skin with burgundy lips and very groomed full eye brows.
Pencil in Blackfire, rather than a lip liner, to rim lips before layering them with burgundy pigments and blending them together, to create a black cherry finish.

By day…

Soft pinks, golds and jewel tones are a big deal too. Bordeaux makes browns and grays look molten and gorgeous. Keeping lines soft – and making sure that your base is flawless, skin this season is beautifully matte but with a glow that seems to radiate from within, rather than a sheen on the surface.

A naturally full, slanted, shaped brow with a soft arch that finishes at the end of the eyes (not overextended) is a universally flattering shape. The perfectly defined brow is a great way to give an edge to a natural look.
If you have major holes in your brows, I would fill them in a little with powder—or a powdery pencil—and then use a colored brow mascara. Tweezing, rather than waxing or threading, is the best method to create beautiful brows. It’s the easiest way to create a precise line close to the brow line, and it is also simple to use at home for maintenance. And remember girls, our eyebrows are sisters not twins.

Trendy Shellac nails

It’s all about gel lacquer – the new and innovative way to colour your nails in a long-lasting and protective way. Step aside regular nail polish, Shellac offers chip-free colour, super-shine, and goodbye dry time. The trend leaders are none other than Creative Nail Design.
So HELLO Shellac, a long lasting nail polish being suitable for people who want to maintain natural nails, the shellac manicure colour and the shine can last up to 14 days (or longer in many cases).
This year’s trends are pastels, leafy greens, metallic’s and poppy red’s and anything that screams boldness and daring colours. In keeping with super-bright trends, this year’s collection prescribes one of the prettiest seasons for hands and feet in a long time – from the shades we can buy now to the ones not yet launched, but very much anticipated.

A/W 2013 Beauty news!

The new season is here, which means it’s time to discover what the new trends are. I do love Fall trends as they always bear a touch of classy and stylish tones.

Makeup Artists have taken Spring trends and developed them for the new season. The very inspirational Pat McGrath has modernised the 60’s classic cat eye look, carrying forth the punk trend but making it more chic and elegant. Black eyeliner is a staple for most makeup looks, so if you’re unsure about the 60’s bold look then the classical black skinny eyeliner will add the subtle definition to your eyes.

Another great trend this season is copper, orangey shadow. Such a simple but yet very luxurious look. Dark metallic eyes with nude lips is definitely a good look this season. Blush free face, or certainly used very sparingly is definitely apparent this season. We are letting the eye’s and lips do all the talking.

Feature brows, however we are wearing them, bushy, groomed or pencilled they are very much a dominant feature. Probably one of the most important elements which marries everything else together.

Glamour has taken over in the form of dazzling red lips, but not just any red, oxblood red. But if you’re not a bold lip lover, a lip stain creates a stunning sheer wash, with softer, more subtle lines, allowing you to swipe it on whenever the mood takes you.

We love a vamp lip.

Find the right shade for you to avoid looking washed-out, especially in winter when our complexions are naturally paler. Those with fair skin should opt for plum or purple undertones. Darker skin types undertones of violet, dark red or chocolate brown. And for those with warmer complexions (such as olive skin types), a dark wine or burgundy shade will compliment your tone.

* Before you apply your lip colour, exfoliate and moisturise your lips to create a smooth base and for longer lasting wear. *

Surprise! Pastel shadows are back for spring.

We know peach is sweet. But peach is also great at warming up your complexion without going full-on bronze.

Not quite red and not quite pink, this color of the moment combines the best of both shades: It’s classic, sexy, and flirty, especially with a high-shine finish and mega-watt lashes.

Spring’s boldest liners—and just as astonishingly vibrant and beautiful. Bright yellow & blue are gorgeous colours and the most unusual color trends this spring.

Not all spring makeup has to be soft and flowery.

Forget metallics. The way to wear gold this spring is in the form of loose, chunky, in-your-face glitter.

It’s been a while since I have blogged about beauty and make-up trends.

Health and fitness has fast become a massive trend and so rather then study catwalk shows for their season’s trends or the new lip colors to hit our makeup counters I wanted to look at natural and organic ways to keep our skin healthy and glowing.

My brides often ask me what they can do to get a healthy glowing skin. My first answer is always the same, if you want healthy skin you can start by drinking lots of water. I guess we all know that water is good for you but we underestimate just how good.

So here are a few tips to brightening your skin internally and externally.

The best ingredient for your skin is vitamin C – start by adding more of it to your diet. Lemons are vitamin C rich so why not start your day with warm lemon water. Not only will this help your skin but it’s the most highly antioxidant juice. It is really daunting these days to know what products are good for you and how many chemicals are in each product.

60% of what you put onto your skin actually enters your bloodstream, so stick to natural/organic chemical and fragrance free products.

Coconut oil isn’t just for cooking, it’s also a natural beauty multitasked that you can use to hydrate your skin, flight frizzy hair and remove makeup.

Try and coconut facemask twice times a week.

Natural Lips

A/W weather is breezy and will dry out your lips super quickly. Conditioning and revitalising your dry – chapped lips should be part of your skin care routine. Gently exfoliate with a sugar scrub or coconut oil using a soft toothbrush can slough away dead skin. Follow with a nice, thick balm application before bed. I would recommend 100% Tropic natural lucsious Lip Balm. Burting with twenty six lip-loving plant extracts including omega six and nine, vitamin C and E.

*Remember that all products are absorbed into the skin, so it’s nice to use something that you wouldn’t mind putting into your body.*
